Portraits

People are one of the most fascinating sources of inspiration to me.

A large group portrait of the many and varied members of Robert Gordon University's Gaming Society. A limited edition print was made from the Oil Painting for the members.

This small oil painting depicts a dozen players and their characters in a game of futuristic Space Inquisition! A nice way to commemorate many hours of gameplay and fun.

Petel Grandchildren
Petel Grandchildren

Mr and Mrs Petel commissioned me to paint this lovely watercolour painting of all their grandchildren gathered together. An excellent memento of a rare occurrence.

Social gatherings, families and tightly knit groups deserve commemoration. These paintings are often more about what ties the people together rather than individual portraits.

These are in-progress shots from when I tutored an Art Class in a craft centre for adults with learning disability.
I would sit and paint their portrait in the quiet moments when they worked on their pictures.
Each painting was a unique gift to the student.

Single and Couple Portraits

There have been many occasions for me to make a portrait: various one-off commissions, gifts, and spur of the moment. Here is a selection from throughout my artistic career.

Alice

Andiamo means "Let's Go!" and Alice certainly lived up to the phrase!

Taekwondo Liam

It was nice to capture his likeness in the midst of his Taekwondo warm ups.

Ben and Maggie
Ben and Maggie

These two organised a fab roaring 20s themed wedding, so a roaring 20s themed gift was a must.

Barbora

A portrait commissioned as a gift from one betrothed to the other. A great personality.

An advantage of retirement, is you get to choose to live by the beach.
